19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former trainer Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
Success also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
His retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.
He came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour victory, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet defended four early chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
